About the brand

Founded in 1995 by master watchmaker Roger Dubuis and designer Carlos Dias, Roger Dubuis began as a small independent Geneva manufacture dedicated to reviving traditional haute horlogerie standards.

Before establishing his own brand, Roger Dubuis had spent years restoring complicated watches for Patek Philippe, gaining intimate knowledge of classical perpetual calendars, chronographs, and minute repeaters. When he launched his namesake brand, his goal was clear: produce watches finished to Geneva Seal standards, with strong mechanical integrity and distinctive design language.

The early years of Roger Dubuis, particularly the Hommage collection are now viewed as the brand’s most important era. Production was extremely limited, often in single- or low-double-digit quantities per reference. Movements were finished and regulated with extraordinary care, making these watches some of the last truly artisanal Genevan complications before large-scale luxury consolidation reshaped the industry.

In recent years, early Roger Dubuis Hommage pieces have experienced a strong resurgence in collector interest. They represent a rare convergence of independent spirit, classical design, and mechanical legitimacy attributes that serious connoisseurs increasingly prioritize.

About the watch

The Roger Dubuis Hommage Perpetual Calendar H37 belongs to a period of watchmaking that serious collectors now regard with growing reverence, the independent, pre-Richemont era of Roger Dubuis, when production numbers were low and finishing standards were uncompromising.

While many associate Roger Dubuis today with bold, architectural sports watches, the early Hommage collection tells a very different story. These were watches deeply rooted in classical Geneva watchmaking traditions: balanced proportions, restrained case design, and high-complication movements finished to exacting standards.

The H37 perpetual calendar in rose gold is especially significant. Believed to be limited to only eight pieces in this metal, it stands among the rarest executions of the Hommage perpetual calendar. The case, refined and elegant, carries a distinctly traditional silhouette, round, softly contoured, and designed to highlight the dial rather than dominate it.

The dial itself follows a harmonious perpetual calendar layout, displaying day, date, month, leap year, and moonphase with clarity and symmetry. Early Roger Dubuis perpetual calendars are admired for their legibility and classical balance attributes that separate them from more contemporary, visually aggressive designs.

Powering the watch is a Geneva Seal-certified movement, a hallmark of Roger Dubuis’ early production. During this period, every movement was individually adjusted and finished to the highest standards of traditional Genevan watchmaking. Anglage, polished screw heads, Geneva stripes, and meticulous regulation were not optional embellishments, they were foundational to the brand’s philosophy.

Today, collectors increasingly seek out these early Hommage pieces for their historical importance, mechanical refinement, and extreme scarcity. The rose gold H37 perpetual calendar, particularly in a production estimated at fewer than ten examples, represents the type of watch that quietly disappears into long-term collections.
