About the brand

Grönefeld, an esteemed name in the world of haute horlogerie, traces its roots back to the late 20th century in the Netherlands. Founded by brothers Tim and Bart Grönefeld, the brand's heritage in watchmaking spans three generations. Their grandfather, Johan Grönefeld, laid the foundation with his own watchmaking shop in 1912. Their father, Sjef Grönefeld, continued the family tradition, passing down his knowledge and passion to his sons.

Tim and Bart Grönefeld, after honing their skills at prestigious watchmaking schools and working for renowned Swiss brands, decided to establish Grönefeld in 2008. Their shared vision was to create exceptional timepieces that combine traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation. The brothers' dedication to quality and precision quickly set them apart in the competitive world of luxury watchmaking.

Grönefeld's journey has been marked by a series of groundbreaking timepieces. One of their most notable creations is the **Parallax Tourbillon**, introduced in 2014. This watch features a flying tourbillon with a large central seconds hand, showcasing their technical prowess and attention to detail. Another significant model is the **1941 Remontoire**, named after their father's birth year, which features an eight-second remontoire mechanism ensuring constant force to the escapement.

Grönefeld's dedication to excellence has not gone unnoticed. The brand has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) awards. These honors underscore the brothers' commitment to pushing the boundaries of horological innovation and craftsmanship.

What sets Grönefeld apart is their meticulous approach to watchmaking. Each timepiece is crafted with an unwavering commitment to quality. The brothers' workshop in Oldenzaal, the Netherlands, is where they combine traditional techniques with cutting-edge technology. From designing intricate movements to hand-finishing every component, the Grönefeld brothers ensure that each watch is a masterpiece.

Grönefeld watches are produced in limited quantities, adding to their exclusivity and desirability. The limited editions are not only a testament to the brand's commitment to quality over quantity but also reflect the brothers' desire to create truly unique and collectible timepieces.

As Grönefeld continues to evolve, the brothers remain dedicated to their core values of innovation, craftsmanship, and excellence. Their passion for horology drives them to explore new techniques and materials, ensuring that each new creation upholds the legacy of the Grönefeld name.

In conclusion, Grönefeld represents the pinnacle of independent watchmaking. Tim and Bart Grönefeld's dedication to their craft, combined with their rich family heritage, has resulted in timepieces that are both technically remarkable and aesthetically stunning. As they continue to push the boundaries of horological innovation, Grönefeld watches remain a symbol of excellence and a testament to the enduring art of watchmaking.

About the watch

Grönefeld 1941 Principia with Meteorite Dial
The Grönefeld 1941 Principia is an exquisite timepiece created by Dutch watchmakers Tim and Bart Grönefeld. Named after Sir Isaac Newton's "Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica," this watch is a celebration of mechanical precision and scientific heritage.

The most captivating feature of the 1941 Principia is its meteorite dial, crafted from a fragment of the Muonionalusta meteorite. This meteorite, estimated to be over 4 billion years old, exhibits natural Widmanstätten patterns, revealed through an acid etching process. These patterns create a mesmerizing, unique texture on each dial, ensuring that no two watches are alike.

The 1941 Principia is powered by the in-house Grönefeld caliber G-06, a manually-wound movement designed and finished to the highest standards. It features a free-sprung balance, a 56-hour power reserve, and intricately hand-finished bridges shaped like the bell gables of traditional Dutch houses. The movement’s exquisite detailing is visible through the sapphire case back, showcasing the Grönefeld brothers’ commitment to horological artistry.

The watch features a 39.5mm case available in precious metals such as rose gold, white gold, or stainless steel. Its design is both elegant and timeless, with a slim profile and refined lugs that enhance its wearability. The meteorite dial, combined with the meticulously finished case, creates a harmonious balance between the celestial and the terrestrial.

The Grönefeld 1941 Principia with a meteorite dial is a limited edition of only 12 pieces, adding to its exclusivity and allure among collectors. Each watch is individually numbered, ensuring its uniqueness and enhancing its value as a collector’s item.

The Grönefeld brothers are renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. The 1941 Principia reflects their dedication to traditional watchmaking techniques while incorporating modern innovations. Each watch is assembled and finished by hand in their workshop in Oldenzaal, the Netherlands, embodying the brothers' passion for horology.

The Grönefeld 1941 Principia with a meteorite dial is a masterpiece that melds scientific history, exceptional craftsmanship, and unique materials. Limited to just 12 pieces, it stands as a testament to the Grönefeld brothers' commitment to creating timepieces that are both technically sophisticated and aesthetically captivating. For collectors and enthusiasts, this watch represents the pinnacle of independent watchmaking and a rare opportunity to own a piece of horological art.
